Gastroenterology Procedures

◊ Capsule Endoscopy is a pill-sized video capsule, which is swallowed and provides examination of the entire small intestine. Indications include detection of small bowel bleeding, cancer, and Crohn's disease. It may also be used to diagnose Barrett's esophagus and esophageal varices.

◊ Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) provides the examination of the bile duct system and pancreas using the combination of a lighted flexible video endoscope and X-rays. Indications for the procedure include problems in the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and pancreas.
