Dr. Purohit is a well-rounded general gastroenterologist with special interests in colorectal cancer screening, GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, and pancreaticobiliary disease. She is also certified and trained in Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and ERCPs (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography). She joined San Jose Gastroenterology in July 2017.
Dr. Purohit completed her medical training at T.N. Medical College in Mumbai. She followed this with a Master’s in Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Westchester Medical Center, New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. She received numerous teaching awards during residency and was awarded Outstanding Resident of the Year in her final year. She followed this with training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the William Beaumont Hospital System in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Dr. Purohit has published in many peer-reviewed journals and has received Presidential Poster Awards at the American College of Gastroenterology meetings for her research.
After completing her fellowship, Dr. Purohit spent a year as the community gastroenterologist for Santa Cruz County.
In her free time, Dr. Purohit enjoys yoga, traveling, and nature hikes with her husband.
